what's the dresscode?

Our wedding will take place in a beautiful ballroom so we recommend formal or evening wear. When asked by the first person what our 'theme' is we instantly said "New York Glamour".
We strongly encourage you to wear whatever makes you feel glamorous and happy. Shine, sparkle, steal the show — we love fashion and can't wait to see you all express yourself.
Can I wear Traditional South Asian ClothinG?
Absolutely! It's not required but you are welcome to embrace Shanak's Bengali culture on this multicultural day, see some guidance below if you choose this option.
Will the event be indoors?
New York in July? Are they mad?!
80% of the event will be indoors with exceptional air conditioning and is rain proof, too. The flooring is a great surface for heels and since we live in the city of cabs, there's no walking needed!
Just be ready to DANCE!
What's the bride wearing?
The brides colors are red, cream, and white so please skip those colors.
Saree

Lehenga
The lehenga is a traditional garment consisting of a long, flowing skirt, a fitted choli (blouse), and a matching dupatta (scarf). It's often chosen for festive occasions and weddings due to its vibrant colors, intricate embroidery, and elegant drape.
Salwar Kameez
A salwar kameez is a traditional dress for men and women in South and Central Asia. It consists of a long tunic (kameez) and loose trousers (salwar). The kameez can have different sleeve lengths and necklines, and is often decorated with embroidery, sequins, or beadwork.
Kurta & Sherwani
The Kurta typically consists of a long, loose-fitting tunic called a kurta, paired with loose-fitting trousers called pajamas. The kurta often has long sleeves and can be made from various fabrics like cotton, silk, or linen. It's a versatile outfit that can be worn for casual occasions or dressed up for more formal events.
The Sherwani is similar to a long coat. It's known for its elegance and is often worn for weddings and other special occasions. Typically knee-length or longer, the sherwani is often embellished with intricate embroidery or beadwork and is paired with fitted trousers called churidars.
